Artist Statement

My work plays with ideas of identity, changing cultures and how we identify ourselves within them. It is strongly influenced by my youth, being adopted and raised in Florida my ideas of culture were centred around Disney and strip malls. I went on to spend the major part of my adult life out of the country, as a cultural outsider experiencing for the first time people having deep rooted history and cultural identities. My work is trying to make sense of disappearing and changing aspects of the world and how we experience them.
